Scan information

This scan is recommended for those who’s biological sex is male. Whilst completing the scan we carry out an overall wellbeing check on the testes area. We look at the surrounding tissues carrying out visual observations.
The scan has been created to help investigate potential disorders of the testes, epididymis and scrotum area. We check for masses, trauma to the testes, causes for testicular pain/swelling such as inflammation or torsion, causes of infertility, epididymal cysts and scrotal hernias. We carefully check the area and report back our findings.
As we allow a full 20 minutes appointment this provides you with opportunity to ask any questions you may have and allows us to support you and provide you with the most accurate advice during the scan.A qualified Sonographer will complete your scan. Our Sonographers are fully qualified and registered medical professionals with lots of ultrasound experience. Our Sonographers are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and follow the British Medical Ultrasound Society protocols and guidance.If, at any stage, we notice anything unusual during your scan we will explain our findings based on the visual observation at that time. We will advise you on what to do next and refer you to you GP or local hospital unit, we have the contact information and details to provide to you in the clinic. If we recommend a follow up we can email a copy of your report to your healthcare provider with your permission.

Please note: your trousers and underwear will need to be removed or lowered to expose the examination area. We recommend you wear loose and comfortable clothing to allow us to complete the exam. We can use tissue to cover any areas not required to be exposed to help you feel comfortable at all times.
