Why should I test?
Oestrogens hormones play a key role in female reproductive health, including puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause. Oestrogens are also important for heart, bone, and brain health in males and females. Males need oestrogen in much smaller amounts.
You may need oestrogen testing if you
- Have abnormal menstruation or no menstruation period at all
- Are having issues getting pregnant
- Have symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes and/or night sweats
- Use hormone replacement therapy after menopause
- Have vaginal bleeding after menopause
Test Information
In females, oestradiol testing can be used:
- To help investigate menstrual problems, including problems conceiving
- To help monitor hormone replacement therapy and other hormone treatments
In males, oestradiol tests may be used to see whether too much oestrogen is causing issues such as
* Breast tissue growth
* Struggles to get your partner pregnant
* Erectile dysfunction
Our Phlebotomy trained professional will take a blood sample from a vein in your arm, using a small needle. This sample will be tested by our authorised partners, TDL. Results from your blood tests can be expected between 5 – 7 working days after the lab receives the sample
Oh Baby LTD will not review your blood test results – we recommend you discuss these results with your healthcare provider or GP. Dependent on the results of your blood test, you may require further testing with a healthcare professional
