Thank You & Preparation

Preparation Guide

We want your visit to feel relaxed, reassuring, and straightforward. To help you get the best possible images, please follow the preparation steps for the scan you’ve booked. If you’re ever unsure, just ask — we’re here to help.

Abdominal Scans

Preparation:

• Please fast for 4–6 hours before your appointment. Avoid all food during this time.

• You may sip water and take any regular medication unless we’ve advised otherwise.

Bladder: No special preparation required.

Upper Abdominal & Pelvic Scan

Upper abdomen:

• Fast for 4–6 hours before your appointment.

Pelvis:

• A transvaginal scan is usually performed.

• A full bladder is not required unless we have asked for one.

• You may not need an internal examination, depending on what we are assessing.

Kidney, Bladder & Prostate Scan

Bladder:

• Arrive with a comfortably full bladder.

• Drink 500–750ml of water about 60 minutes before your appointment.

• Please do not pass urine until the scan is completed.

Food:

• No fasting required unless we advise otherwise.

Kidney, Bladder, Spleen & Ureters Scan

Bladder:

• Please arrive with a full bladder.

• Drink 500–750ml of water around 1 hour before your scan.

• Do not pass urine until the scan is finished.

Food:

• No fasting is required unless told otherwise.

Early Reassurance (Early Pregnancy) Scan

Bladder:

• Come with a comfortably full bladder.

• Drink 500–750ml of water about 60 minutes before your appointment and try not to pass urine.

How it’s done:

• We scan over your stomach first (transabdominal).

• If the images aren’t clear, we may offer a transvaginal scan for more detail — only with your consent.

Routine Pregnancy Scans (after early pregnancy)

• A full bladder is not usually required.

• If we need to check the cervix, we may ask you to have a comfortably full bladder.

Premium 4D Scans

Preparation:

• If suitable for you, a small sugary snack or drink shortly before the scan may help encourage baby movement.

Important:

• Please do not do this if you have gestational diabetes — follow your usual dietary advice instead.

Tip:

• Stay hydrated throughout the day for the best results.

GP Appointments

We want you to feel fully prepared and confident when you attend your appointment. The information below explains what you may need to bring with you, depending on the type of service you’ve booked.

Joint Injections

• If your appointment is for a joint injection, please bring along any relevant medical information — this may include X-rays, imaging reports, or previous treatment history.

• Having this information helps us understand your condition fully and ensures we provide the most appropriate care.

General GP Appointments

• Please bring any medical history, letters, or documents you feel are helpful for us to understand your health concerns.

• We do not have access to NHS medical records, so anything you can provide will support a more thorough and accurate consultation.

Blood Tests

• Make sure you are well-hydrated before your appointment.

• Drinking water beforehand can make blood collection easier, especially if you know your veins can be difficult to access.

Not Listed Above?

If your appointment type isn’t mentioned here, it usually means no preparation is required.
